铜镜是我国青铜艺术文化遗产中的瑰宝。洛阳博物馆展出的这面金银平脱花鸟纹铜镜可谓是难得的艺术精品。这面金银平脱鸾凤花鸟纹铜镜为八出葵形，直径30.5厘米。镜背正中有一半环形钮，镜背装饰有金银片制成的各色花卉、飞蝶及口衔绶带的鸾凤，华美绝伦。金银平脱工艺在唐代较为流行，其工艺也极为耗时费工。制作时先在素胎表面用大漆作地，并利用大漆的粘合性把事先剪裁、錾刻好形状和纹饰的金、银丝片粘附在漆地上。还需要进行反复多次髹漆、干燥、打磨、推光，使大漆层与金银装饰层形成完美的平面，由此可见一件看似简单的漆器背后，工匠付出的艰辛。金银平脱镜的制作耗费巨大的工力和财力，在当时即被视为绝等之作，是贵重的奢侈品，悠悠千年后能保存下来，使现代人一睹其风采者更是寥若晨星,弥足珍贵。
Bronze mirror is a treasure of Chinese bronze art and cultural heritage. This bronze mirror with pasted pieces of gold and silver ornaments in the shape of flowers and phoenix was reputed as the fine art. The shape of the mirror is the sunflower, with a diameter of 30.5 cm.There is a half ring button in the middle of the back andalso decorated with gold and silver pieces of petaled lotus, various flowers,butterflies and phoenix with ribbon. Though its making process wastime-consuming and laborious, this technique has been in vogue in the Tang Dynasty. Firstly, craftsmen should apply the lacquer on the back as the base,and then paste gold and silver pieces on the base. After that, it also needs to be applied lacquer, dried, polished repeatedly to form the final product. This seemingly simple bronze mirror reflects painstaking effort of craftsmen in workmanship. Manufacturing this mirror costs a huge amount of labor and financial resources so that it was a truly luxury at that time. It is precious that it could be preserved for thousands of years to enable modern people to appreciate its elegant demeanor.
